Maria Barinova, affectionately known as Masha among family and friends, is a mental health advocate with a diverse background. Originally from Odessa, Ukraine, she's now based in Seattle, WA. Maria's experiences range from working as a security guard to serving as a therapist. She did her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from State University of New York in Plattsburgh and currently serves as Resident Director at University of Washington and a therapist at Sequim Counseling. She has worked as a rehabilitation practitioner with adults living with PTSD, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, etc in order to help them learn executive functioning skills and be able to lead a full life. Maria's commitment to community engagement is evident through her various volunteer roles, including mentoring with Big Brother Big Sister, Friendship Circle and is involved with Jewish Family Services. With a focus on mental health awareness, she aims to educate and provide resources, particularly for college students, immigrants, and first responders. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, gaming, martial arts, and connecting with her local Jewish community.
